Becoming a mother has changed me, in more ways than one. I have learned to love more, how to forgive more easily, and how to be more patient with others (I haven’t quite mastered the last one yet, but I get to practise this every day with our two-year old, Zee!)
There are so many things I continue to learn everyday from watching them grow up. Here are some important life lessons that I think we could all take from the little people in our lives.
The journey into motherhood often feels like learning an entirely new language, filled with late night feeds and quiet moments of wonder. New parents quickly discover that patience becomes a daily practice, especially during the earliest weeks when sleep arrives in short, unpredictable stretches. There is a particular kind of beauty in those tiny milestones, from the first genuine smile to the soft weight of a baby breathing against your chest. Sharing these experiences with others helps build a sense of community, reminding families everywhere that they are not walking this path alone.
Finding time for personal fitness after having a baby can feel like solving a puzzle with missing pieces. Many mothers look for gentle ways to rebuild strength, choosing routines designed specifically for postpartum recovery. Short sessions at home, walking with the pram, or joining a welcoming gym environment can all play a part. Progress tends to be gradual, but small wins add up over time. Celebrating each achievement, rather than chasing perfection, helps build a healthier mindset for the long road of parenthood and beyond.
Capturing the everyday magic of family life is something many parents hold dear. Photography offers a way to preserve fleeting expressions, muddy footprints, and spontaneous laughter that might otherwise blur into memory. From birthday parties and golden hour park visits to quiet cups of tea on slow afternoons, these images tell the story of a growing family. Sharing pictures with friends and loved ones creates keepsakes that can be revisited for years to come, turning ordinary days into something genuinely beautiful and worth remembering.
Pregnancy brings a flood of decisions, from nursery layouts to baby gear and feeding choices. Expectant parents often spend hours researching products, comparing notes with friends, and reading reviews from other families. Topics such as breastfeeding while expecting, managing morning sickness, and preparing older children for a new sibling tend to surface often in conversations. Having reliable information and a supportive circle can make the experience feel far less overwhelming, allowing parents to enjoy the anticipation rather than feeling weighed down by the unknown.
Creating a warm and inviting home environment often becomes a priority once children arrive. Families find creative solutions for shared spaces, from durable floorboards that stand up to crawling babies to clever storage that keeps toys within easy reach. Cozy corners for reading, safe areas for play, and welcoming spaces for visiting friends all contribute to a sense of balance. Home becomes more than a place to sleep; it becomes the backdrop for birthdays, holidays, pizza nights, and the everyday joy of raising a family together.

I’ve never been more amazed by the human body and what it’s capable of before now. After having triplets almost 10 weeks ago, I stop and look at our little miracle babies everyday and wonder how the hell they all fit in my belly. I’m only 5.4” so not really the ideal body type to be having multiple babies. But, I did, and I managed to birth three very healthy babies, totaling an impressive 7kgs between them (plus 3 placentas which would take the total up to around 10kg!)
There are many types and styles of photography when it comes to newborns and lots of photographers to choose from. Find someone who’s style you and your family love as these photos will be cherished forever.
After running over an hour late to our shoot (who knew getting 4 children ready to go out would be so hard?!)… we had heaps of fun with Katie from
Sugar Images
! She captured the most beautiful shots of our babies & Zee – which wasn’t an easy feat (we may have had to bribe Zee with Peppa Pig to get some of the shots). I love them all but this one’s definitely my favourite!
The Waiting Game. Article written for Wonderful Mama Magazine – June 2015
I’ve been thinking about writing this piece for a long time now, but given that we’ll be meeting our triplets in a couple of days, it feels like the right time to put pen to paper – a bit like now or never.
We’re currently at the end of our pregnancy “Waiting Game” and about to embark on a whole new journey, but this story is about the experience of becoming a mother, and a parent. The excitement, the joy, the fear and the emotional roller coaster that is – trying to start a family.
