We’re on the home stretch now, with just 2 weeks to go until we meet these beautiful babies of ours, and let me tell you – I am SO ready! And what passes the time better than a few laughs.
This one is for all the pregnant women out there (whether you are pregnant with singles or multiples, I’m sure you can relate!).
You know you’re pregnant with triplets when…
…the shop assistant asks you when you’re due – but you’re only 10 weeks pregnant. You definitely know when you tell her that its not public knowledge yet as you’re not past the first trimester but the reason you look big because there’s actually 3 in there, and she screams so loudly everyone in the shop stops and stares at you!
…everyone you meet starts making scissor signs with their hands at your husband and murmuring something about it being – time to see doctor ‘Snip’!
…you hit the medicare threshold two months into the year – And, you get excited when your antenatal scans drop from $680 to $520 per visit.
…the pregnant ladies in your obstetricians waiting room stand up and offer you their seat.
…you’re projected childcare fees are more than your mortgage. Not to mention your grocery bill.
…the sonographer tells you that your babies have grown over a kilo since the last scan but the scales tell you you’ve lost a kilo. It doesn’t add up but it seems that no matter how many calories you pack in you can’t keep up!
…you park your car at the shops and open the door and you can’t get out without hitting the car next to you. You start wondering when carparks got so small?
…you’ve outgrown your maternity clothes.
…you have to do a 3-point turn every time you roll over in bed.
…you wake up at 8am and your ready for a nap at 10am.
…you’ve gone to the bathroom and peed a teaspoon of liquid, you stand up and wash your hands and you need to go again.
…you consider buying shares in Mylanta because of the amount you consume due to your reflux.
…it’s the middle of winter and you walk around the house in your underwear complaining about the heat.
…you open doors / cupboards onto your stomach at least once a day – surprised that it’s grown again in the past 24 hours!
…something has dropped on the floor and you can’t pick it up with your toes – so it stays there until hubby comes home.
…you feel like your running a chemist from your kitchen. Mylanta, Panadol, Blackmore’s pregnancy, iron supplements, calcium supplements, and Metamucil (just to name a few…)
…your husband goes out and buys a new mattress with the latest technology to minimise “partner disturbance” because you wake him up at least 10 times during the night.
…your stomach feels like a balloon that’s being blown up and if one more breath goes in it just might explode
…you get used to people talking about you like you’re not in the room.
…you lost count how many times you got up in the middle of the night to pee (or drink Mylanta, find your wedge pillow for your stomach, turn on or off the fan because you’re too hot / cold, stand up to get the feeling back in your legs, get a glass of water because you’re dehydrated etc).
You know your pregnant with triplets when despite all of this, you feel like the luckiest person alive, that soon you will have three beautiful babies joining your family and you wouldn’t change a thing for anything in the world.
I’d love to hear your funny stories – please share them in the comments below!
